This was the second time I’ve done this hike. The first time I did it I couldn’t find the old mine mentioned in William Sullivan’s book so this time I was determined to find the mine. I let Sullivan know last time that the GPS Coordinates in his guide book where incorrect. It’s actually pretty cool if you find any errors in his books, he corrects them on his site and thanks you by giving you a free book.
This is a great hike with tremendous views of the area. The hike uses the PCT and is an out and back of approximately 6 miles and 1000ft elevation gain. The trail head is located a short drive from the Wagner Butte trail head.

The mine isn’t accessible anymore but you can still hike to it and see the cable run from it to up top.
