Today was one of those days where it would have been easy to skip going on a hike. It was raining pretty hard when I got up today and didn’t look like it was going to ease up. Like many times before though, I knew that I’d regret not getting out there. I was right, the minute I hit the trail I was glad I didn’t stay home. Todays hike was a short late morning hike but that’s still better than no hike. Grouse Loop trail is just of the shore of Applegate Lake in Oregon. The trail is 2.8 miles with about 550 feet of gain going counter clockwise.

This is a surprisingly pleasant hike. I will hike this trail again. Especially on days where I don’t have a lot of time. There wasn’t any epic views but the trail is well maintained and has lots of shade.

The trail is only a few feet from the Collings Mountain trail. If you are hiking to the big foot trap there, this would make a nice addition to your day.
