Just doing a little exploring in Sky Lakes this time. Still a little snowy in the area but still accessible. Blue Lake is one the easiest lakes to visit in the Sky Lakes Wilderness. It’s only a short hike down to the lake from the parking area. It is a little steep on the return hike but to bad.

There’s not a lot of camping in this area, at least not compared to Cliff lake or the Cold Springs area but Blue Lake Basin is still a good choice especially for short day hiking.

If you want to get a good view of Mount McLaughlin take a right at the trail head on Cat Hill Way trail. Then left on Meadow Lake trail to Blue Canyon trail. Go left on Blue Canyon trail to make a loop back to trail head.
